HI ALL, WHO ARE TAKING THIS THE RIGHT WAY AND ARE NOT RIPPING MY HEAD OFF …
I recently attended a GALA evening. It was a fundraiser for palliative care and grief counseling. Pricey, of course, but most companies paid…(quite a few funeral companies…). It is a good cause and we have to support that.
[on a side note: my province does not do much for the elderly…and other groups of the most vulnerable in our society…it is Canada, and not the Netherlands].
I applaud the organizers. But, what was this for spectacle: A Gala evening I thought has some decorum and class. This particular event used to have that little extra…but it is gone….First of all, many people do not know the difference between how to dress for a Gala – in particular women got it wrong en masse – and night club attire. Too slutty and ill fitting (all ages…really). Yes there were well-dressed people as well. Thank goodness!
Russell Smith where are you? We need your column in the news papers…the women who took over “fashion advice” from you are too smooth with some designers…conflict of interest?
The above….easy and fine for any event. Of course you can go fancy, but that does not translate as slutty.
We all have internet don’t we…we can all look up the websites above that guide those, who do not know what to wear, what to wear to what event!
Here is the part where I lost it a bit…A group of people were doing shots…you know the way they do it. The shots on the floor…three women lined up…you get the picture…not a pretty sight.
That was it…quick washroom visit…and “no I am not suffering from bulimia”….I did not waste a great supper. The food was great….those who donated big time were fantastic…too bad that some of the guests behaved from poorly to badly…[no one listened when announcements were made…it was completely and utterly rude behavior].
….well to those tempted to go to gossip sites (and slut-sites) such as “the worst dressed, the worst beach bodies, the most hideous outfits”…you do not need any internet site to click on as you can find it everywhere…it is difficult not to be confronted with it. It is in your face whether you want it or not….it is at work places….AND I DO NOT WANT IT !
