I Love this!!!
I normally do not re-post and I avoid “commercial sites”, but this one I could not let go past. Being brought up by family members who might have meant well, but tended to tell me what not to do and what not to wear and what I probably should not study…..etcetera….I started out as a teenager with a fear of doing anything that anybody might not agree with…as I am sensitive to criticism…and as a result I did not live and was curtailed by fear.
There is always a reason NOT to do something….you are too young, you are too old…you are too skinny…you are too fat…..you are not qualified enough….you are overqualified…..people will not accept you……you will offend people…….
I feel that as long as you do not hurt others and yourself (respect others)…..you need to give yourself permission to do things you know you will regret you did not do when you had the opportunity……YOLO indeed.
This morning, as I was perusing my Facebook timeline, I happened upon an article that a lovely friend shared. It was entitled “24 Things Women Should Stop Wearing After Age 30”, and it triggered Maximum Eye-Rolling from everyone who took the time out to read it.
Written by Kallie Provencher for RantChic.com, this “article” (I use the term loosely) highlighted things such as “leopard print”, “graphic tees”, and “short dresses” (because “By this age, women should know it’s always better to leave something to the imagination”). Kallie, it seems, has a number of opinions on what women over 30 should and shouldn’t be doing, having also penned “30 Things Women Over 30 Shouldn’t Own” and “20 Pictures Women Over 30 Need To Stop Posting Online”. (What is this magical post-30 land where women are suddenly not allowed to do or own so many things?!)
